Mahindra enters a new phase in aerospace manufacturing.
MUMBAI: Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has incorporated a new aerospace subsidiary, Novavayu Aerospace Limited (NAL), to manufacture aircraft, aerospace products and undertake related services and activities, according to a regulatory filing.
Novavayu Aerospace has been incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra Defence Systems Limited (MDSL). MDSL is wholly owned by Mahindra Advanced Technologies Limited (MATL), which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, making Novavayu Aerospace a step-down subsidiary of the Mahindra Group.
The company was incorporated on July 29, 2026, and received its Certificate of Incorporation from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on July 30, 2026. Its registered office is in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and it has been incorporated with an authorised share capital of ₹1 crore, divided into 10 lakh equity shares of ₹10 each. Mahindra Defence Systems and its nominee have initially subscribed to 1 lakh equity shares worth ₹10 lakh, making the company a wholly owned subsidiary of MDSL.
Business Objective
According to the regulatory filing, the objective of incorporating Novavayu Aerospace is the manufacture of aircraft, aerospace products and undertaking services and activities related thereto. The company has been incorporated under the defence industry category.
While the incorporation marks the creation of a dedicated aerospace entity within the Mahindra Group, the company has not announced any specific aircraft programme, manufacturing facility, investment plan or strategic partnership under Novavayu Aerospace.
Aligned with India’s Defence Manufacturing Push
The establishment of Novavayu Aerospace comes as India continues to promote indigenous defence production under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. The government has been encouraging private sector participation in aerospace and defence manufacturing to reduce import dependence and develop a domestic industrial base.
