NEW DELHI: The Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zoho Corporation to accelerate indigenous digital transformation and strengthen the military’s technological capabilities under its JAI (Jointness, Atmanirbharta & Innovation) mission.
The agreement was signed by Lieutenant General Harsh Chhibber, Director General Information Systems (DGIS), and Rajendran Dandapani, Director of Engineering at Zoho Corporation, in the presence of Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi and Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu.
The partnership aims to develop secure and sustainable digital solutions while strengthening the Indian Army’s indigenous digital capabilities. It supports the government’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by promoting innovation and collaboration with the domestic technology industry.
As part of the collaboration, the Indian Army and Zoho will jointly undertake application-oriented research and development. The collaboration will focus on application-oriented research and development, enabling the co-development of digital solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency and support the Army’s evolving technological requirements.
The MoU also places emphasis on technology-focused skill development, enabling Army personnel to strengthen their digital capabilities and support the force’s ongoing modernisation efforts.
According to the Army, the collaboration seeks to foster a secure and sustainable digital ecosystem through indigenous innovation, collaborative research, and capacity building.
The initiative forms part of the Army’s JAI (Jointness, Atmanirbharta & Innovation) mission. The framework focuses on improving integration among the armed forces, promoting indigenous defence technologies, and accelerating the adoption of modern digital capabilities to prepare the military for future operational challenges.
Zoho Corporation, one of India’s leading enterprise software companies, will work with the Army to support indigenous digital transformation through collaborative research, innovation, and technology development.
The agreement marks another step in the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to modernise its digital infrastructure while supporting the government’s broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through greater collaboration with domestic technology companies.
