BMD Phase II & NASM-MR being test-fired on 10 & 11 June'26
India has achieved a massive milestone in aerospace defense. The Defence Research and Development Organisation recently completed three consecutive flight tests. These high-stakes trials took place over a two-day window on June 10 and June 11, 2026.
Consequently, the successful tests significantly reinforce the nation’s military posture. The team validated a multi-layered shield against long-range ballistic threats. In addition, they introduced a brand-new maritime strike weapon. Senior officials from the Armed Forces watched the entire flawless performance.
Entering the ICBM Intercept Club
The primary highlight of these trials centers on the Ballistic Missile Defence grid. During the tests, DRDO launched advanced interceptor missiles. These interceptors targeted complex incoming mock vectors.
Fortunately, the interceptors hit their targets with absolute precision. This success confirms the operational integrity of the tracking and guidance systems. Therefore, India’s radar networks can now easily handle real-world combat scenarios.
Most importantly, these validations position India within an elite global group. The country now possesses a verified architecture to neutralize dangerous long-range threats. This includes intercepting weapons up to the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile class. By mastering these hypersonic speeds, India has completely rewritten its deterrence equation.
The Maiden Debut of the NASM-MR
While the interceptors secured the upper atmosphere, DRDO also expanded naval fire power. The team successfully executed the maiden flight test of a new naval missile. This weapon is called the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range.
This brand-new platform will change localized maritime strike operations. Scientists designed the missile entirely with domestic technologies. Specifically, the weapon optimizes attack profiles to destroy hostile surface warships at medium ranges.
Furthermore, this successful inaugural flight confirms excellent aerodynamic stability. The propulsion systems and terminal seekers performed perfectly. As a result, the armed forces can now deploy a lethal tool to protect sovereign waters.
A Boost for National Self-Reliance
This multi-domain success required intense coordination. Multiple research laboratories, military commands, and industrial partners worked together. They built these advanced systems to counter evolving regional threat matrices.
The growing maturity of indigenous defense technologies contributes significantly to national security preparedness. It also boosts deep technological self-reliance in advanced weapon systems.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh officially extended his warmest congratulations to the entire DRDO team. He highly praised the flawless execution of these crucial technology demonstrations.
In addition, the high-stakes trials were closely monitored by Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh. He serves as the Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO. The Chairman proudly applauded the scientific community for turning complex designs into field-proven hardware.
Building the Unyielding Wall
Ultimately, these three successful flights signal a major leap for India’s air denial strategy. Long-range precision weaponry now defines modern subcontinental conflict. Therefore, having an unyielding BMD grid alongside long-range anti-ship capabilities is absolutely indispensable.
Now, DRDO is rapidly transitioning these newly validated technologies into series production. The country is systematically building an impenetrable multi-layered wall. India’s next-generation defense architecture is officially ready for any future threat.
